I took another stab at Jupiter after reading some more tutorials on stacking in Photoshop. These were generated at ISO 800 with 1/60sec shutter speeds

This time instead of using prime focus methods I used eyepiece projection + a 25mm eyepiece. This gave a bit better zoom but I feel I’m pushing the scope to the limit here…

Unstacked

This first shot is a single frame. I used photoshop to adjust Levels/Brightness and Contrast to get this view.

Stacked

Next I tried stacking 7 shots together to see what that would do. I’m not sure if this is really any better than the above? It’s brighter for sure and the details look a little bit clearer.

Round Top Peak

Round Top was only my second 10k peak summit attempt (my first attempt being the nearby Red Lake peak). At Red Lake we were never able to get GPS over 10k ft for some reason. I think we didn’t find the true summit after searching around for a while,

M42 - One year's progress!

Winter has returned, and with it, a chance to look back on the progress I made this year. M42 was one of my very first attempts at astrophotography! This week I was able to capture 57 minutes of exposure with the telescope, thats a huge increase over January’s 34

M31 - Andromeda

Tonight I decided to try something a little bit different. I show a wider field image with an 85mm lens instead of the telescope. The coloring is very red, but I’m not sure how much is due to Light Pollution or not. There are definitely some dusty structures visible.
